Iron-On Agenda!

Here's the story of how Gail tempted me into breaking my stash pledge. Just kidding, Gail! (Except, she totally did.)

There we were in the remnants section of Vogue Fabrics. The massive, overwhelming, chock-full-of-deals remnants section. Apparently Gail and I share the same great tastes, because we each spied a piece of the same lightweight cotton at about the same time:

Isn't it pretty? It's railroaded, so this pattern is on both selvages. There was 1.5 yards for each of us, and we quickly made a plan to do one of them creative co-blog thingies that are so popular with the kids today.

I somehow also ended up with a lightweight pink-and-cream sweaterknit and a midweight chambray--don't ask me how it happened!

Anyway, the next question is ... what to make?! I've pretty much narrowed it down to Simplicity 2886:

The pattern calls for more than 1.5 yards, so this is gonna involve some finagling. But I have a nice aqua sateen to use as contrast, and I'm gonna give it a shot. This will be my first dress ever! So I'll be doing a wearable muslin and everything. I'm excited! Can't you tell from this pic?

This is my oh-god-I-broke-my-pledge-and-now-there's-PROOF face.

Also check out Gail's hand-knit summer sweater--simple and beautiful. She wrote today about what she's planning to make. Go read it!

FO: Martian Sorbetto

I finally got on the Sorbetto train! Love this pattern.

The fabric is from the "Marty Goes to Mars" line, which has been out for a while I guess. Here's a closeup of the fabric:

Isn't it cute? I bought it cheap on sale to make a Negroni for my boyfriend, but had plenty extra for a wee old Sorbetto. For a bit of contrast, I used some mustard-colored bias tape around the neck and armscyes.

There'll be more of these to come ... plus a super-secret project I'm working on with Gail!
